Executive Director & Group Head of Care
With almost 25 years health and social care experience, Leah is a dedicated and passionate professional committed to leading Swallowcourt in the provision of the highest standards of care and support. Leah joined Swallowcourt in 2017.
With a career that started as a hands-on carer, progressing through to the management of residential and nursing care homes for both the Elderly and adults requiring specialist care, Leah is committed to person centred approaches to care and making a difference each and every day to the lives of people for whom we are privileged to care.
Passionate about people, Leah is not only dedicated to residents in her care, but is also committed to inclusive leadership, ensuring that Swallowcourt staff are nurtured, supported and empowered to contribute to continual service and quality improvements.
Brian Chairs
Executive Chairman
Brian Chairs the board of Swallowcourt with executive responsibility for finance, investment and property matters.
Brian is a business advisory specialist with expertise in corporate finance and risk management. Earlier in his career he also gained considerable general management knowledge and experience in senior roles with major financial institutions in the UK.
Prior to joining Swallowcourt, Brian was Operations Director for a national charity providing support to enable disabled people to live independently. He is dedicated to ensuring Swallowcourt can provide the highest standards of dignity, care and freedom of choice.
Kim Pankhurst
Head of Quality, Safety and Compliance
Kim has had an eclectic career in education and more recently care. She believes that quality comes from developing systems that support people to do their job better and know where to focus their efforts. She has worked with people of all ages, from different walks of life, those with disabilities and those living with dementia. She is passionate about people, learning and improving people’s lives. Kim is qualified in Health & Safety.
Jamie Harrison Assoc CIPD
Head of HR
Jamie joined Swallowcourt in 2004 as a Care Assistant and since then has experienced many and varied roles within the organisation over the years before taking up his current role as Head of HR. Jamie feels that this has enabled him to develop a detailed understanding of the services we provide. He works closely with all of our home managers to support our great teams here at Swallowcourt. All are committed to providing the very best quality of care and support.
Mike Tippett
Estates and Contract Manager
Mike originally joined Swallowcourt in 2010, and is responsible for purchasing, contracts and working closely with our Maintenance Team to ensure our Care Homes are safe and great places to live for our residents.
Gemma Elloway ACMA CGMA MAAT
Commercial Manager
Gemma joined Swallowcourt in 2008 as Sales Ledger Assistant and over several years progressed through the Accounts Department to become Financial Controller. In 2016 Gemma qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant before taking up the position of Commercial Manager in 2018.
Fiona Freeman
HR Administrator
Fiona spent 4 years as a Branch Administrator in the care industry before joining the HR team at Swallowcourt’s Head Office in August 2019. Prior to this she spent many years within the IT sector in sales and marketing which has given her valuable experience for her current role as HR Administrator. Fiona thrives on being busy and helping to ensure that Swallowcourt’s Recruitment and HR processes run as smoothly as possible.
Liz Laycy
Management Accountant
Liz joined Swallowcourt as Head Office Administrator in April 2015 and is now the Management Accountant for the business and thoroughly enjoy the challenges and variation that her role brings.
Laura Holness
Accounts Assistant – Sales Ledger
Laura began her career with Swallowcourt in 2013, as Head Office Administrator, providing assistance to the Head Office team. She has now progressed to Accounts Assistant responsible for the maintenance of the Sales Ledger including producing invoices and receiving payments.
Elaine Denny
Purchase Ledger Clerk
Elaine joined Swallowcourt in 2018 as Purchase Ledger Clerk with a long history of accounting experience and the AAT Diploma. The role involves the control of the purchase ledger, credit analyses, petty cash and the ordering of consumables.
Tertia Herman
Clinical Matron
Tertia joined the company in April 2020.
Tertia is a highly experienced Clinical Leader with an accomplished career of 29 years in the private health sector.
A dedicated nurse that is extremely passionate in promoting the provision of exemplary care while working in conjunction with our teams across all homes. Tertia is committed to improve clinical standards and the provision of high-quality nursing and residential care, while at the same time supporting staff and teams to develop their own skills and abilities.
Qualified as a General Nurse with extensive experience in Dementia and Mental Health that has developed into a collaborative work approach to ensure that the people, we care for are the centre of our focus on a day to day basis.
Tertia is very passionate with regards to the importance that care home sector staff are acknowledge and recognise by the Health Care Sector as highly skilled, knowledgeable and frontline individuals.
Jenny Booth
HR Administrator
Jenny moved to Cornwall, from Manchester, in 2012 and immediately joined a care provider as their recruitment coordinator before joining Swallowcourt in March 2020. Prior to this Jenny spent many years working in customer service roles which has given her valuable experience in her role now as HR Administrator. Jenny thrives on speaking to new candidates and seeing them progress smoothly through the recruitment process before becoming a valued member of the team.
Sarah Ryan
Commercial and Quality Assistant
Sarah started working at Swallowcourt in April 2020. She joins us from the education sector, where she enjoyed a 20 year career. Sarah is a passionate and dedicated member of the team and uses her valuable knowledge and skills set to assist the administration department run smoothly.
